The History of LCR

Celebrating Over 57 Years of Design Excellence

LCR Interiors stands as a pillar in the design community with a rich legacy. From its local beginnings to the current day, LCR has been a continued presence in Suburban Hartford county and beyond.

Established in 1967, LCR was known as John Lafalce, Inc., and the retail shop was called The Finishing Touch. In 1987, Peter Robbin and Skip Campbell purchased the business under the name LaFalce, Campbell, Robbin and known as LCR Interiors. Most recently, in 2024, Natalie Real purchased the business from Peter Robbin and legally changed the name to LCR Interiors. As the legacy of LCR continues, Natalie has a deep appreciation for the brand's heritage and looks forward to shaping its future. With a blend of reverence for the past, Peter’s remaining presence and a fresh vision and for what's to come, she is to lead LCR Interiors into a new era of design.

LCR Interiors has had several locations across Connecticut, originally in a large free-standing building in Canton, then nestled in the heart of the West Hartford Center for 25 years. A Westport location also existed for 20 years, being sold just 10 years ago. Eight years ago, LCR transitioned to its current location in Avon, strategically bringing together communities from the Farmington Valley and Hartford County at the crossroads of Route 44 and Waterville Road. The charming white clapboard house with black shutters and striped awning now proudly houses LCR, symbolizing a new chapter in its storied history, now focusing more on full-service interior design, closely selected goods and locally curated fine art.

Peter Robbin designed a room in a West Hartford Design Show House which caught the eye of the White House Press Secretary’s wife, who was in town and noticed that Peter’s drapery was the same drapery the Press Secretary had in his office.

She wrote Peter Robbin a personal letter informing him of this. The drapery and part of the letter are shown to the left and below.

Peter Robbin featured in the New York Times as a “New Face” along with Skip Campbell, another previous LCR owner.

In 1987, Peter Robbin moved to Connecticut to purchase the interior design firm LCR then located in the heart of West Hartford Center. Peter was the 2nd owner of LCR Interiors, but continues on as LCR’s senior designer.
