Charlie Bluett

Charlie Bluett's art works are driven by his overriding passion for Nature and the Natural world.   It's ethereality,  beauty , ebb and flow, as well and the light and color of the everyday.

His contemporary abstract colorfield paintings focus on the natural scenes & objects we are exposed to within the Earth's vast and varied outdoor environments. Contours, tones, colors & natures balance feature heavily in his paintings, and capture the very essence of the natural world around us and the elements that combine to create it.

The changing surfaces, vibrant and ethereal color use, and the consistent subtle movement of form and mind within the works, is considered and yet fluid, challenging and yet totally at peace within itself.

Bluett's pieces convey and allow the viewer to share in this highly personal journey and allow the veiwer to lose themselves in a moment of complete calm and peace, a moment of quiet serenity in a busy world.

Pete Hocking

“I’m a visual artist, writer, activist, and educator working in Provincetown, MA. I suspect that the meaning of life is connected with the ways in which we learn and convey knowledge. This journal is preoccupied with that suspicion.

Since 1996 I’ve been a lecturer at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), teaching courses on leadership, art theory, and how contemporary issues can fuel art making. I teach in the Ed.D program at Gratz College, with courses focused on community relations and multicultural leadership. From 2003-2021 I was a faculty member in Goddard College’s MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts program. I was director of RISD’s Office of Public Engagement (2007-11), and Associate Dean of the College & Director of the Swearer Center for Public Service at Brown University (1988-2005). I’m a founding board member of Provincetown Commons, an economic development center for the creative economy. I’m also the author of Fieldguide Provincetown.”
